Hello, friends:

We just made a wonderful connection with the cutiest students at the Grey Coat Hospital School, Westminster, Uk, and smart students at Inage High School, Chiba, at this end, as one of the projects for "the festival UK98 from chiba", on occasion of the year-long series of events organised by the British Embassy in Japan. It's the first-time real live online exchange between Britain and Japan by the "real" bunch of students on this occasion, after several tests and rehearsals by me and Victor Narciso, IT manager at GCH.

Let me express my utmost gratitude: 1. Japan FA System, a CODEC supplier in Yokohama, Japan, of their lending me the expensive and excellent equipment. 2. Makuhari Media Surfing, a public venue in Makuhari, Chiba, of their sparing their floor for this video link experiment. 3. David Hodgson, a young gentleman from Britain, who have been devoting his precious moments in the municipal government of Chiba, and he collected the students. 4. Leslie Kato and Mr. Watanabe, and the Inage High students. 5. Victor Narciso, Mrs. Marion Parsons, Mr. Rick Cooper, then GCH cute students.

The students at both ends had obviously a wonderful and enthusiastic moment together exchanging their talk and laughter. So far, seven students at GCH gave me a hug of "fun" letters via email.

The following are the ones you can feel the enthusiasm, and we will have another session(s) for this project and occasion, to, hopefully and eventually, have a real online live video-link event by the students at the both ends during the festival UK98, through the real "video teleconferences" by them. I should ask you, friends, to help, assist, and support us to realise this grassroot and high-tech series of events, financially. (If you can, please give me the reply of support.)

(I have done other several online live-exchanges for the deaf people in USA and music sessions mostly supported by MCI, Va., USA. There will be more coming up towards this fall. If you wish to know such events, let me know. I will distribute the news.)

Here we go.

>Hello, my name is Vickyanne Williams, I live in London but I come from Australia. I am 12 years old.
>I enjoyed talking to the Japanese students on the videolink but when my class sung the football song and when I was asked about football players I didn't know what to say because I don't know anything about English football except that it's Soccer! I was a bit embaressed at first but it was fun. I might have felt more at ease if they had been the same age as me though. I enjoyed the experience and I would like to do it again

II hope we will see more of class.
